NBA Fantasy
The NBA fantasy league is a free game that gives you the chance to run your own team of NBA players from the first tip through the late-season battles for playoff positioning. An example host of this type of game is Yahoo!
The goal of this game is to get the best lineup of players from a pool which you will use every day, since the better your players perform in real-life games, the more value they bring to your fantasy team.
So for example, after joining a league sponsored or managed by a friend or a co-worker, you guys will have a drafting period. In this given time, usually more or less a week, there will be a sequence of league members for drafting NBA players. This is where you build your own fantasy team. An example of a fantasy team roster is:
- Lebron James
- Monta Ellis
- Carlos Boozer
- Vince Carter
- Ron Artest
- Al Horford
- Chris Kaman
- Steve Nash
- Dwight Howard
- Jordan Farmar
The key to this game is to be able to track each of your fantasy team players’ statistics and know whom to set as your starters (5). The starters will provide your fantasy team the statistics (points, rebounds, assists etc) needed to win over another fantasy league player, which on the other hand also has his or her own fantasy league. So it is basically, your fantasy team versus your opponent’s. You play by your fantasy team starters’ statistics. This all happens all throughout the real NBA season.
After the fantasy season, the fantasy league players will go to a playoff. Again this is a one on one battle between chosen league members and they just knock each other out until one member finishes on top.
In my case, I am not really familiar with all the twist and turns of this game and I actually haven’t been in one. But I have a lot of friends who are currently engaged with this free online game. I’d probably give this a shot sometime soon. It sounds fun, entertaining and somehow, make your office time worthwhile. J
